Due the first class of the second week of the term.
WARNING! Before partitioning your harddrive and installing Linux, make backup copies of important files and locate your rescue floppies and CD-ROMs for restoring your computer to orginal form.
Do read and work your way through Lesson Hour 1 of both books.
1. Do the exercises at the end of the chapters.
2 .This includes finding out what equipment you have. Write down all the information you can find out about your computer system. Turn in a copy of it to your instructor.
3. Decide what size installation of Linux you are going to make. Write it down and turn it in to your instructor.
4. Decide how you wish to boot your Linux system. Write it down and turn it in to your instructor.
5. Decide how and if your are going to partition your harddrive. Write it down and turn it in to your instructor.
6. If you think you know what your are doing, go ahead and try to partition your hard drive. Write down how you do it and what if any problems you have. Turn it in to your instructor.
The Projects will be submitted through e-mail and attachments. The computer output can be capture using the Print-Screen key and then pasting it to PAINT program. Results will be sent to you by your instructor. After the DUE date, answers will be posted.

At least once a week, E-mail your instructor on how your are doing. If you have questions or problems, Feel free to E-mail then to your instructor. Also include a diary of the days and hours you spent on the course. You can also exchange problems and notes with other students by using the WEB board.
